ABT Course Rationale:

In the West, therapies based on art forms began emerging in the 1930s, solidifying into recognized disciplines like drama, music, and art therapy by the 1950s and ’60s. Since then, numerous universities have developed training programs, research journals, and certification bodies to support these practices.

India, with its rich cultural heritage and ancient healing traditions, is a natural home for such expressive therapies. However, despite our wealth of art and tradition, a systematic and contemporary approach to integrating arts into therapy has remained largely undeveloped. Arts-Based Therapy (ABT) bridges this gap by introducing an artistic language into therapy, grounded in well-researched psychological principles and scientific understanding of the mind.

The Arts-Based Therapy course in Pune is designed to meet this growing need. It equips students with innovative methods and interventions that integrate art and healing. Upon completing the course, participants will be able to incorporate these approaches into their personal and professional practice, enriching the therapeutic process and making it more creative, meaningful, and impactful.
